Blackjack is a popular game that actually puts the Bank – or House, against other players. The goal for each player is to obtain a final number of points that is higher than the Bank. However, players should not exceed 21. In fact, whenever a player’s points surpass 21, he loses his initial bet. Unlike most other casino games, Blackjack players have the opportunity to influence the course of the game. Indeed, players can use some options but also vary the strategy they want to opt for.
The general value of a card varies between 2 and 10. A face card is worth 10 points.
The Ace is worth 1 or 11 depending on the value the players want to assign to it.
The best combination you can make in this game is an Ace with a face card or a “10”, the total amount being close to 21, which means you hit a Blackjack.
When you hit the blackjack, you win 1.5x the value of your initial bet.
Before cards are distributed, players must place their bets.
The dealer distributes a card to each player that is face up and then another card to himself (this one is face down). The dealer will then distribute a second face-up card to each player.
Then comes the question of which player will start the game. In Blackjack, you proceed from left to right, in the clockwise direction. Players can ask for additional cards when their turn comes or choose not to ask for any more cards.
Once all players have been dealt their cards, the dealer must play too. He needs to draw cards and stay in the competition as long as the total amount of his card value surpasses 17. If the dealer ends up with more than 21 total points, all remaining players earn the sum of money they bet during the game. If the dealer has between 17 and 21 points, all the players who’s total points are higher win the game.
If a player is on a par with the dealer, he retrieves the money he initially bet.

If the first card obtained by the croupier is an Ace, the player may have the opportunity to “insure” by paying half his initial bet. If the dealer sorts a Blackjack out, the player unfortunately loses the money he initially bet but does not lose as much money as it seems since he has paid the insurance. It is therefore what we call a “zero loss”. If the dealer does not hit the Blackjack, two situations are made available: firstly, the player wins. He loses his insurance but wins the equivalent of his initial bet (either a net profit of half of his initial bet). Secondly, if the player loses, the insurance is no longer useful as we are in the situation of a 1.5 loss.
When a player gets two cards of equal value, it is possible to separate these two cards and to use them as two different hands. In order to do this, the player is going to need to place another bet. Once the games are separated, the player can play each hand individually. If he comes to win both games, he will earn twice his initial bet. If the player loses the game, of course he won’t gain anything but won’t end up completely empty either.
Another particular rule consists in splitting two Aces. By separating them, the player can only receive one more additional card per each ace.
After receiving two cards, the player can choose to double his bet provided he does not receive another card during the next turn.
